Partner mode vs friend mode: which should you use?

Three modes, one formula. The modes change pronouns — never math. Here's what each one is actually for.

First, what the modes don't do

Let's kill the suspicion: switching modes does not change the scoring. The formula — 20 starter camels plus +2 to +12 per answer — runs identically in every mode. What changes is the wording: "you" becomes "they," "your friend" becomes "their friend," and the result screen addresses the right person. Many camel quizzes run separate secret formulas per gender or per relationship; we run one formula and three sets of pronouns.

Myself mode

Use it for: your own score — the canonical number, the one you quote, the one on your image card.

The experience: seven questions about you, answered honestly (or strategically — see the retake guide). This is the baseline everything else gets compared against.

Partner mode

Use it for: girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, wives, fiancés, situationships — anyone whose score you're about to hold over their head.

The experience: you answer on their behalf, which is half quiz and half relationship audit. The questions read naturally in third person, and the result screen is phrased for sharing directly to the person. Pair it with the compare flow for the full showdown.

Pro tip: let them answer Partner mode about you while you answer it about them, then compare all four scores. The discrepancies are the interesting part.

Friend mode

Use it for: friends, siblings, coworkers, rivals, group-chat tournaments.

The experience: same third-person wording, but the framing is platonic — no romance implied, maximum roast potential. Friend mode is the tournament mode: everyone runs it for everyone else, scores go in the chat, highest herd wins bragging rights.

Which one should you use?

  • Just curious about yourself? Myself.
  • Settling something with a partner? Partner — then Compare.
  • Group night? Friend mode, tournament rules.
  • All of the above? All of the above. Retakes are unlimited and the quiz takes a minute.
