The camel score guide
Every camel score on this site comes from one fixed, public formula. There is no randomness, no secret weighting, and no black box — just arithmetic wearing a silly hat.
The formula
camel score = 20 (starter herd) + your 7 answers (+2 to +12 camels each)
Everyone begins with a starter herd of 20 camels. Then you answer 7 questions about playful traits — humor, creativity, kindness, adventure, teamwork, talents, and charm. Each answer adds a fixed number of camels, from +2 to +12.
Because every answer has a fixed value, the lowest possible score is 34 camels (20 + 7 × 2) and the highest is 104 camels (20 + 7 × 12). The same answers always produce the same score.
Result titles and ranges
| Camels | Title | What it means (fictionally) |
|---|---|---|
| 34–48 | Desert Drifter | You travel light and like it that way. The caravan respects your independence — from a comfortable distance. |
| 49–63 | Caravan Companion | The one everyone wants on a long journey: reliable, funny, and excellent at spotting snacks. |
| 64–78 | Oasis Regular | Word gets around. Wherever you show up, the mood improves by several degrees. |
| 79–92 | Dune VIP | Reserved seating at every campfire. Your group chat keeps a folder of your greatest hits. |
| 93–104 | Sultan of the Sands | A once-in-a-generation herd. Future historians (that's us) will write about this result. |
A worked example
Say you answer like this:
- Humor: “Pun professional” → +9
- Creativity: “Rearrange the whole room” → +5
- Kindness: “Show up with snacks and zero judgment” → +12
- Adventure: “Nap comfortably on any surface” → +2
- Teamwork: “The planner with the spreadsheet” → +9
- Talents: “Befriend any animal in sixty seconds” → +12
- Charm: “Find the dog” → +5
That's 20 + 9 + 5 + 12 + 2 + 9 + 12 + 5 = 74 camels — an Oasis Regular. Your result screen shows this same breakdown for your own answers, so you can see exactly what moved your herd.
Why deterministic?
A quiz you can argue with is more fun than a quiz that shrugs. Fixed scoring means you can retake it, change one answer, and watch the total move by exactly that answer's value. It also means comparing scores with a partner or friend is fair: same rules, same math, no dice rolls behind the curtain.
What the score doesn't mean
Everything, really. The score doesn't measure attractiveness, worth, marriageability, or anything else that matters. It doesn't describe any real custom — it's a meme with a spreadsheet. If your score made you laugh, it worked. If it didn't, retake it and blame question 4 like everyone else.
