6 camel calculator myths, debunked
People believe strange things about a joke quiz. Let's clear the desert air.
Myth 1: "It's based on a real tradition"
Debunked. This quiz's formula was invented for entertainment: 20 starter camels plus points for your answers. It doesn't describe, represent, or endorse any real cultural, religious, or historical practice. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling something — probably a safari.
Myth 2: "A higher score means you're more attractive"
Debunked. Our quiz doesn't ask a single question about appearance — it scores humor, creativity, kindness, adventure, teamwork, talents, and charm. A Sultan of the Sands might be gorgeous or might look like a thumb; the quiz neither knows nor cares. (Other calculators do score looks, which is their business and their loss.)
Myth 3: "The score is random"
Debunked — for this quiz. Ours is deterministic: identical answers produce identical scores, every time, because the formula is fixed arithmetic. Fair warning: not every camel calculator works this way. Some randomize the result, which you'll notice when retaking gives a different number for the same answers. That's a red flag with hooves.
Myth 4: "It stores your answers"
Debunked. Your answers live in your browser's memory while the quiz runs and vanish when you close the page. Nothing is uploaded, saved, or tracked — there isn't even a server-side component to send them to. Read the privacy page; it's short because there's so little to disclose.
Myth 5: "Men and women get different secret formulas"
Debunked — here. Many camel quizzes do run separate gendered versions with different hidden rules. We run one fixed formula for everyone; the Myself/Partner/Friend picker only changes pronouns, never math. One caravan, one set of rules.
Myth 6: "You only get one shot"
Debunked. Retakes are unlimited. Change one answer and watch your total move by exactly that answer's value — it's the best way to understand the formula, and the second-best way to spend a minute. (The best way is comparing scores with your partner: house rules here.)
The meta-myth: "It's just a dumb quiz"
Okay, this one's true. But it's a dumb quiz with a published formula, a per-answer breakdown, deterministic scoring, original artwork, and a privacy policy you can read in ninety seconds. Dumb like a fox. A desert fox.
